WHY A VIEW STAYS CLOSED
A rating only means something against the brewers it was earned against. Two islands that have never played each other built their numbers in different rooms, so sorting them into one column would invent a result nobody played for.
A wider view opens when the crossing is real: three brewers from each side, across two separate events, in eight rated games. One person visiting once is a visit, not a connection — their rating would end up carrying everybody else’s position.
Nothing merges when it opens. The wider view simply starts rendering, and no number changes — the ratings were always on one scale. What the crossing earns is the right to sort them together.
HOW THE NUMBER IS WORKED OUT
- 01Everyone starts at 1200. It is not a score you build up — it moves both ways, every game.
- 02One heat is one game. You are measured against everyone who brewed in that heat, not only whoever won it.
- 03Beating a stronger brewer moves you more than beating a weaker one. Losing to a stronger one costs you less. That is the whole idea — who you played, not how often.
- 04Early on your number moves a lot. It appears on a board once it stops swinging.
- 05Nothing outside a competitive game touches it. Casual games and private practice never move a rating.
Ratings are computed with Glicko-2. Nothing on this board is a judgement call.
